Boels Rental is announcing today that the acquisition of Riwal will be going ahead. Final approval for the acquisition has been issued by the competition authorities. The acquisition is part of the ambitious growth strategy of Boels to become the largest and best rental partner in Europe.
Geographical growth and integration
Boels and Riwal both have a strong market position in their respective markets. The acquisition opens the doors for Boels to new European markets, such as Spain and France. Boels and Riwal will combine their strengths in countries where both companies operate. In non-overlapping countries, we will continue to build on the renown of the Riwal and Manlift brand names.
Pierre Boels, CEO Boels Rental : “Today we are welcoming 1,200 expert colleagues to our orange family.”
Expansion of expertise and aerial platform fleet
Riwal’s expertise in aerial work platforms adds a new dimension to Boels’ product and service offering. With more than 60% of its fleet electrified, the acquisition also greatly helps Boels in reaching its sustainability goals. The combined fleet now stands at 55,000 AWPs.
Shaping the future
With 65 branches and nearly 1,200 skilled employees, Riwal adds around €310 million in turnover to Boels Group. The acquisition therefore not only guarantees a geographical expansion and scale up, it also strengthens Boels’ financial strength and agility. With nearly 830 branches in 27 countries, the acquisition creates a solid foundation for further growth. Thanks to a combined fleet value of €3.6 billion and a skilled workforce of nearly 8,500 employees, Boels is able to meet every customer challenge.
