The pressure on the construction sector is huge. Around 100,000 new homes need to be built every year, which means construction sites are often set up at high speed. And in that rush, things like safety measures, fencing or site facilities can easily be overlooked. Make a well-organised construction site your good resolution for 2026! According to Boels Rental, these 4 items are most often forgotten.
Personal protective equipment
Safety should always be the top priority on any construction site. The Boels Rental Construction Index 2025* shows that 42 percent of construction professionals would actually like to see even stricter safety regulations. Personal protective equipment such as safety helmets, hearing protection and proper workwear is essential. Still, the right equipment is sometimes missing or not used. Make sure there is enough PPE available and remind everyone to use it.

Fencing and site security
Most construction sites are properly fenced, but in some locations extra security measures are far from unnecessary. Think of burglary-resistant solutions such as high-security clamps, anti-lift protection, noise barriers or privacy screens. Access control is also important, for example with a mobile sliding gate, as well as camera towers to monitor the site outside working hours.
Site facilities
When organising machines, scaffolding, construction lifts and equipment, site facilities are sometimes underestimated. Yet they are just as important for the people doing the work. Proper sanitary facilities should never be missing. And in winter conditions, extra measures such as heaters or heated workwear help keep your team comfortable on site.
Temporary power and water connections
It’s smart to draw up a detailed power plan when designing a construction site. This plan shows exactly where distribution boards are needed, which connections are required and how much cabling is involved. Other facilities should also be included in the site plan, such as lighting, ground protection and a water connection.
With the high workload and the challenges construction companies are facing, it’s understandable that something is occasionally overlooked during planning. It’s frustrating when you only realise this once the site is already being set up or work has even started. That’s why we want to encourage construction companies to make it a resolution for 2026 to set up their sites as completely as possible. That way, every construction project gets the best possible start in the new year.
