It’s no myth that Austria is alive with the sound of music. The country’s music festivals – such as the world-famous Salzburg Festival and the very popular Burg Clam concerts in Upper Austria – get bigger and better every year. This year, Dominik Hammer supported the latter event. Thanks to fast service and the right equipment, this year’s edition was able to run smoothly and without delays.
35-year-old Dominik Hammer has been working at Boels Rental for 7 years. He initially joined the company as a CRE, before becoming a dispatcher, and later a deputy depot manager. He is currently the depot manager of the Linz-Asten branch. He had an instant rapport with our company, especially with his division manager. “I saw opportunities to grow and develop, and I took my chances.”
Career
Dominik soon discovered all there was to know about the branch’s work processes. He says that curiosity and his desire to learn were the foundations of his career. Away from his workstation at Boels, Dominik is a passionate musician. He loves heavy metal music, and is a drummer in a band. Through this hobby, he has made the right connections in Austria’s music industry.
Network
Thanks to his musical network, he is always able to find new connections at various music festivals nationwide. “I am an avid festival-goer myself and know many people who work in the event world. Through them, I am able to make contacts at an early stage. I always have the dates of Austria’s major festivals marked on my calendar. If the organisers haven’t contacted us, I call them all in good time to discuss opportunities to provide equipment. This proactive attitude is appreciated. If they are unfamiliar with Boels, I use our social media channels to show them what we are doing in the event sector elsewhere in Europe, and then it is often quiet on the other end of the line. I then take my chance to win them over.”
“I want to win and conclude every contract. Being in a band myself, I understand an organiser’s requirements and what they expect from us.”
Customer service
Dominik received an e-mail from Austria’s largest concert organiser, Barracuda Music. They wanted two telescopic handlers, which we naturally delivered right away. Unfortunately, there were problems with one of the devices. When a Boels technician visited the client, Dominik went along too. The problem with the machine was fixed and Dominik got talking to the organiser. “He complained about a competitor who had let him down at the last minute, so I took the opportunity to offer my assistance.” The organiser needed twenty containers in a very short time. “I said straight away, ‘Let me take care of that!’ This kept the event organiser focussed on the project and we were able to provide the right equipment.”
“I wanted to help the client and to work with him to find a solution. He was impressed with our service. When I see what we can do together for events in Austria, I feel incredibly proud.”
Teamwork with colleagues from Munich
With the help of Boels’ large network, the containers were successfully delivered. They were delivered via our colleagues at Boels-Baulog in Munich. This convinced the organiser to appoint Boels in a larger capacity next year. Thirty containers have already been reserved.
“We can achieve a lot through our persistent nature, proactive approach and the ability to develop solutions together with all our colleagues in Austria, Germany and the Netherlands. I’ve seen that time and time again.”
