A huge project! What exactly does the project entail?
Binx Smartility has been commissioned by the Municipality of Tilburg to carry out a transformation of the current municipal offices into the new town hall. The building has a surface area of 19,000 square metres and will be renovated with circular and bio-based material solutions. The latest technologies in the field of climate, sustainability and reuse of materials will be implemented during the renovation. The construction activities will be completed in March 2023.
Sustainability is clearly an important factor, but how can this be seen at the construction site?
The Municipality of Tilburg, Binx and Boels are all devoting more and more attention to sustainability. During the renovation of the municipal offices, they will also be building as sustainably as possible. Instead of buying construction materials and equipment, the decision was made to hire equipment from Boels. This equipment is also becoming more and more sustainable. Because a lot of work has to be done inside the building, Boels’ ever increasing range of electric machines and tools offers more benefits than just sustainability. They also do not emit any unpleasant exhaust fumes and they are quieter than fuel-powered equipment.

This project requires a complete construction site preparation solution. How is that being handled?
During a large-scale project such as this one, it is not always possible to predict exactly what equipment will be needed. That is why Boels likes to put its knowledge and expertise to use as early as possible in the process, allowing the construction site to be set up efficiently. Binx needs water, electricity, lighting, security, temporary accommodation and machines at the construction site. Why did the contractor choose Boels?
Binx has been working with Boels since it was founded in 2014. To be more specific, the short lines of communication, one point of contact, the (specialist) knowledge – think IQ-pass and construction site preparation – and the complete full-service approach are a few reasons. The fact that a single party supplies the total package has a lot of advantages, according to Brent Lubbers. “Convenience, service and efficiency are very important to us. Because Martijn receives every additional request that comes in and because we work with other branches, the rental requests can be combined. This also allows transport to be grouped together. Streamlined logistics means fewer transport movements, which also contributes to sustainability.
