Niche job for Boels Rental specialist in Amsterdam city centre
You find your venue: a 400-year old church, full of history. You want to use the church to put on a stunning musical project on the life of Vincent van Gogh. The only snag: installing 40 projectors at 14 metres height. So what do you do? It was this very quandary that brought cultural entrepreneur, Marcel Vos to our Amsterdam branch. When entrepreneur, Marcel Vos knocked on the door of the Amsterdam branch regarding a project at the Noorderkerk, it soon became clear that this was no run of the mill job. The historic site, combined with the location and limitations of the property itself, made for a very challenging delivery indeed.
Working at height with a specified maximum load calls for a specialist cherry picker. And the spider is an obvious contender. This slim cherry picker is light and flexible in use. One thing was for sure: it was the right machine for the job. But when Marcel Vos advised that he needed the equipment inside the church, we had to check out the site for ourselves.
Heart of Amsterdam
The Noorderkerk is located right in the heart of Amsterdam. This required a specific logistical solution that our capital’s hub was able to provide. Access to the church was via a couple of steps, a narrow door less than 2 metres wide, and a large pillar that needed to be manoeuvred around. “This is where the expertise of our top Velddriel team came into play. They positioned the four spiders with such precision, that not even a single scratch was made on the church. An incredible display of machinery mastery”, declares Jeffrey Bosch, Director at Boels Rental, enthusiastically.
Once Marcel saw the four spiders finally in position between the church pews, he had one more realisation: “For me, it was really important that the machines made it inside without doing any damage. Boels went above and beyond by moving the machines around for us, sometimes even daily. I was really impressed by that. The standard of service has without doubt played a part in getting the technology installed safely and on time, and to the overall success of the project.”
