The weather in Roermond and Maasbree was causing water levels to rise, threatening to flood the area. The Municipality of Roermond called in the company Asfaltbouw to help get the situation under control. Jo Heuijerjans, Project Manager at Asfaltbouw, emphasised how important it was to act quickly during this emergency situation: “Working together with Boels, the pumps were installed in just one day, allowing the rainwater to be pumped back into the Meuse River and sparing local residents any trouble.”

In total, Boels supplied and installed eight pump installations in Roermond municipality. Heuijerjans shared his experience: “During the night, it looked like the houses opposite the Meuse Bridge were lower to the ground. Because of the short lines of communication, it was possible to react quickly and add urgently needed additional pumps. These pumps were delivered promptly and were used to successfully remove the excess water.”
Delivered on site in just one day
Water levels were also rising in Maasbree, where Holiday Park Breebronne is located on a recreational lake. An additional pump was also installed here to keep the holiday homes and main building dry. Maarten Bos, Technical Services Manager of Breebronne: “Our own pump was not enough to cope with the heavy rainfall and high groundwater levels. We were able to hire a larger and more powerful pump through Boels. The pump was delivered and installed on site in just one day. The pump ran for a fortnight and prevented flooding from causing any serious damage.”
