The sharing economy has been key at Boels Rental since it first started trading back in 1977. Why? Because it’s more sustainable to share equipment than buy it. Robert Tans, Strategic Account Director: ‘We believe that everyone should have access to sustainable equipment. So, we offer our customers customised solutions that enable them to meet their sustainability challenges. This can involve providing advice or supplying zero-emission equipment or full-service solutions via the shortlease option.’
If a business has (potential) customers that want to make sustainability a priority in their projects, or if sustainability is an important consideration when putting together tenders, Boels Rental is happy to advise. ‘Whether about the construction process or the end results,’ says Robert Tans. ‘We want to work with our customers to help them reduce emissions. Our promise is that ‘orange is the new green’. This promise is based on the five building blocks that our experience, expertise and decisiveness have enabled us to develop.’ The five building blocks are: sharing is caring, zero emission, sustainability within reach, service first and green pioneers. Tans explains them one by one below.

“It’s more sustainable to share equipment than buy it”
Sharing is caring
Tans: ‘As a future-oriented organisation, we make choices based on respect for people and the environment. By renting out equipment, we ensure that it is utilised efficiently and to the full and we also make a positive contribution to the sharing economy – by sharing rather than owning. According to research by the European Rental Association, this optimal and efficient use of equipment reduces CO2 emissions by 30 to 50 percent.’
Boels advises customers to choose the rental option best for them in terms of use and costs. It offers various short and long-term rental options, including shortlease and outsourcing. That means there’s a perfect rental option for every customer.
Zero emission
Visibly proud, Robert Tans says: ‘We stock an unprecedented range of zero-emission equipment and hybrid alternatives too. We also supply the very latest Stage V fuel equipment. We are a one-stop shop that offers customers a wide and modern range of products for all their rental needs. Whether a customer is looking for zero-emission equipment for earthmoving, landscaping, boom lifts or other applications.’
All Boels zero-emission tools and equipment carry the ECO label. Products with this label meet the highest standards in terms of safety and ease of use. The label also stands for reduced energy consumption and noise production. So, customers can rest assured they’re renting the very latest and most economical equipment.
Sustainability within reach
‘We are always within reach,’ Tans says. ‘Customers can rent locally from more than 750 branches throughout Europe, which helps them save time and money and reduce costs and CO2 emissions.’
Thanks to our big network of branches and hubs, transport distances are always short and efficient. Boels combines the delivery and removal of equipment wherever possible as well. This has the added bonus of reducing the CO2 emissions generated when transporting equipment.
