A large data center is currently under construction in Milan. The lead engineering contractor on this project, Mercury from Ireland, contacted Boels to hire some of the requested materials. During construction, the rental of large equipment had to be arranged differently. At that time, the contractor called in the help of their contacts at Boels. The client was able to take full advantage of ‘One Boels’, the huge pan-European network of Boels Rental.
Quick action in times of unforeseen challenges
Darragh Kavanagh works as Group Procurement Manager for Mercury’s Hyperscale Division and already knew Roger Konings, Boels International Key Account Manager, for quite a few years. So logically, Roger was the first person Darragh called to help clear up this unforeseen challenge. Darragh says about his collaboration with Boels: “We found ourselves in a really tough situation. We needed a lot of heavy machinery and we needed it quickly. Boels understood the urgency and requirements and searched far beyond the national borders in order to deliver the machines. Their swift action made sure we could still meet the original project deadlines.”

The only question that counted from that first phone call was: How can Boels help deliver the required materials? Supplying the standard equipment from its branches in Italy wasn’t an issue, but the contractor’s demand was many times greater. So Boels put its wide European network to optimum use, collecting the requested materials in Belgium, Austria and Germany and delivering everything in no time to Milan. The teams in Austria and Italy, headed by Andreas Girkinger and Paolo Panzone respectively, also worked incredibly hard to get the job done. According to Andreas, this collaboration simply reconfirms that Boels is a reliable partner in any situation: “That makes me proud.
