Czech customer praises work methods of Austrian colleagues
Teamwork comes in many shapes and sizes. And cross-border teamwork is a particularly noteworthy example of this. Thanks to a Czech colleague, depot manager Philipp Puz was able to reel in a fantastic project in the east of Austria. Read more below about how the team in Vienna successfully worked for a Czech company specialising in green energy systems.
If you drive an hour and a half from Austria’s capital, Vienna, you will reach the town of Lutzmannsburg. When you hear the name Lutzmannsburg, you think of solar thermal baths. Aiming to be even more sustainable, the owner of the thermal baths is building a new car park equipped with solar collectors. These collectors will provide the thermal baths with green electricity.
Czech company Greenbuddies was called in to take care of this future-proof project. Greenbuddies specialises in the construction of larger and complex solar energy projects throughout Europe and was already a customer of Boels in the Czech Republic.
Go-getters
Jiri Svec, Junior Buyer at Greenbuddies, knocked on the door of our Czech branch in Nehvizdy (depot 038) for the project in Lutzmannsburg. The branch employee there wasted no time and forwarded Jiri’s query to Philipp Puz, Depot Manager in Wiener Neudorf (578). Philipp has been the central contact person since then and everything accelerated from there. Philipp and Jiri are cut from the same cloth: they are both real go-getters. In no time an attractive and suitable proposal was put together and a new partnership was born.

Jiri had quite a wish list for the first phase of construction. The list ranged from site equipment, site fencing, Bio Boxes to containers. Philipp and his colleagues at the Wiener Neudorf site got straight to work. The project is now in phase four. In the meantime, a whole range of equipment has been rented out, including 8-tonne and 15-tonne dredgers, a wheel loader, a 12-tonne roller, telehandlers, vibratory plates and diesel tanks. The number of depots involved also increased, from one to three.
Never say no, of course
The team at Puz didn’t have everything in stock. “We could supply almost everything, except for the 15-tonne dredger. But of course we never say no to our customers. My colleague Roman Mantsch was able to hire this dredge from a competitor at a ‘super price’. The customer happy, us happy.”
Jiri adds: “We make promises to our clients. We can only keep these promises if we can rely on reliable suppliers. That’s why it is so important for us that our suppliers stick to delivery agreements, that they deliver quality and deliver on time, and that they charge reasonable prices. Boels has shown that it meets all these criteria and that makes us happy.”
Running into delays isn’t an option
The communication between Philipp and Jiri is efficient and easy. WhatsAapp is a frequently used medium. “If it needs to be a little more formal, for example with offers and contracts, then of course we communicate by email”, Philipp explains. In addition to the contact with Jiri, there is also regular direct contact with Pavel Skála, the project manager of Greenbuddies at the construction site. “He places the orders with me, which I immediately check with Jiri for approval. Running into delays isn’t an option, not for them and not for us. We want to work quickly and efficiently for our client, that’s what we aim for as a team.”
Jiri, too, is very enthusiastic about the way the project team works. “Greenbuddies delivers hundreds of megawatts of solar energy throughout Europe. We have found a very reliable partner in Boels Rental, a ‘safe haven’ as it were, that we want to keep on board. The cooperation with Philipp is excellent. His team is fast and always thinks in terms of solutions.”
